Our seventh vintage producing this lovely wine from Kuitpo. The nose loaded with grapefruit, citrus and lime leaf, along with subtle notes of just-picked dill, fresh cucumber, celery and white pepper. The palate has a minerally flinty edge and direct acid line with savoury textural notes and oodles of fresh-cut stone fruit. The anise spice character lingers on the finish. Drinking beautifully at release and will continue to develop with bottle age. Cellar up to 8 years and possibly beyond. Some light lees present which will settle by standing upright in the fridge, or simply drink cloudy and enjoy as is! The lees are a natural part of the winemaking process and do not impact the quality of the wine.

    Producer

CRFT Wines express the place where it started and the uniqueness that comes from individual sites. Each wine is made from grapes picked from a single vineyard and every bottle becomes an honest reflection of that one specific location, an untarnished sample of soil and season. CRFT sources fruit from nine vineyards across the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Just two to three tonnes are picked from each block and wines are produced in small batches of about 2,000 bottles. The winemaking philosophy is simple: preserve what the vineyard grew and create balance and harmony, leaving a minimal winemaking footprint.

    Region

The Adelaide Hills, just 20 minutes drive from Adelaide CBD is one of Australia’s premier cool-climate wine growing regions. Benchmark wines abound; from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of Ashton Hills and Penfolds Bin ‘A’ offerings to the cutting edge lo-fi wines of the Basket Range, there is an impressive breadth to the regions diversity. But it’s not just home to the classics and the vinous avant-garde. Think racy Sauvignon Blanc, fine-boned, medium-bodied Syrah, wonderful Gruner Veltliner and some cracking examples of Nebbiolo and it’s clear that it is a region that is capable of covering many bases with aplomb. Local Knowledge: A lunch at the Summertown Aristologist is not to be missed.

Wild fermented on full solids, single vineyard, skin contact, vegan friendly, bottled unfined and unfiltered. 92 dozen. Cloudy, fresh, sweet-accented, complex and yeasty. When I say sweet-accented I mean fruit-sweet, not sugar sweet. Beautiful flow to the wine. Muted aromatically but generous and joyous in the mouth.
