"The best Chardonnay wines, at least for me, combine flavour with lightness, and nothing too overt happening in the wine making process, and if this criteria is important to others too, then this release romps it home. There’s a flicker of struck match, peach and citrus, with a subtle overlay of vanilla and spiced oak. It’s glossy, but tight and chalky too, almond paste and crunch of limey acidity, with a touch of savoury complexity. It’s almost juicy in its delivery of flavour, but never steps over the line. The finish is very long, all nougat and ripe Chardonnay flavour, and leaves you wanting more. What more could you want?"

I think the general release date is sometime around October, though best get these done quickly, as I’m off to Italy again on Friday. We don’t want that pesky Mattinson interfering with the rightful work of The Chardonnay Master™.
It’s a tight one in 2017, that’s for sure. Lime, lemon and lemon curd, vanilla yoghourt, almond, just a little stuck match. It’s racy but flavoursome, bites down pretty firmly, and doesn’t really let go. Intense quartz-like texture and juicy lime acidity pulses through citrus and tangy pineapple, the finish long and slightly spicy, all chalk and mouth-watering goodness. Hooray for Mount Mary Chardonnay.

There’s a complex, mealy and savory side here with a very assertive white-peach, mango and nectarine edge, too. The palate offers intense flavor with intense freshness and the grilled hazelnuts and peaches hold long. Drink now.
