Loess terraces (Lössterassen) are the classical image of the Kamptal. Loess is a soil structure, which was built up in the last hundred thousand years. Sahara winds brought the tiny particles from the alpine areas to the region, which makes up the high content of chalk in the soil. Loess suits perfectly to Grüner Veltliner in its need for good water supply and brings wines with a fine and peppery note.
