A 65/35 blend of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir, predominantly estate-grown with some select parcels of Derwent Valley fruit. Mix of two terroirs: grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel. 2014 base vintage with 10% 2012 reserves. Vinified in a blend of small oak, large oak and stainless steel and given full malolactic conversion. Méthode traditionnelle, with a minimum of two years on lees and one year on cork pre-release. The natural viticulture, low yields and incorporation of reserve wines create a sparkling wine that tastes fruit-pure, intense, rich, creamy and complex.

    Producer

Stefano Lubiana's sought-after wines are the result of a passionate quest for perfection, detail and uniqueness. Steve and Monique Lubiana’s approach focuses on organic principals, with innovative use of barrel and whole-bunch fermentation and wild yeasts to handcraft a distinctive range of wines. Located at Granton in the Derwent Valley, 20km north of Hobart and overlooking the spectacular tidal estuary of the Derwent River, the winery boasts a family winemaking legacy of more than 200 years. Certified biodynamic — Tasmania’s first

    Region

Tasmania's Derwent Valley wine region is located just north of Hobart and hugs the banks of the Derwent River. The river has had a great impact on this area and resulted in varied soil types, predominantly alluvial. As a general rule red variteies are grown in this region at higher altitudes and the whites are located nearer to the banks of the Derwent. This cool climate region offers excellent conditions for growing quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Small producers such as Dr. Edge, Domaine Simha & Stafano Lubiana are ones to watch.

This year’s Tasmanian Wine Show trophy winner has iced pastry aromas, and some bread and brioche notes. The palate quite rich, full and rounded, its richness enhanced by a well-judged touch of sweetness.

Made with 65% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, all estate grown. If Australian NV sparkling is on your radar – and why wouldn’t it be – then look no further. It’s a crisp, racy, fresh-faced style in general and yet it has complexity and breadth. Love the freshness, love the flavour. Red and green apples, citrus, bread and roses. Satisfying and refreshing. Grown right, made right, tastes right, priced right.

A 70/30% blend of chardonnay and pinot noir disgorged Aug '18. Chardonnay is dominant on both paper and in the mouth; the wine has white flowers, white stone fruit and grapefruit, the balance and length both right on the money.
