Intense perfume, mixed berry fruits, floral notes & spice on the nose. The palate is lead by primary fruit then onto savoury graphite and white pepper underpinned by stalkiness and concentrated meatiness.

Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and best producers in the Yarra Valley. A very strong argument that they produce one of the top Cabernet blends in all of Australia, silmilarly for their Rhone inspired Shiraz blend. In 1973 Dr Bailey Carrodus released the first commercial vintage of wine from the Yarra Valley since 1923, Dry Red Wine No.1, a Bordeaux inspired blend and Dry Red Wine No.2, a northern Rhone blend.
The wines reflect this highly individual man, the site he chose so carefully, which to his absolute credit, cosistently produces some of the finest wines made in Australia. He named his vineyard Yarra Yering and it quickly gained an international reputation for quality and individuality, especially in it's current set up under the brilliant Sarah Crowe. For 35 years Dr Carrodus made his wines to great critical and commercial success, today, Yarra Yering winemaker Sarah Crowe (James Halliday’s 2017 Australian Winemaker of the Year) continues this benchmark quality.
Yarra Yering produces elegant, complex and powerful wines. Approachable as young wines, they have the ability to develop in the bottle for many years (read decades).

First planted with vines in 1838, the Yarra Valley is the birthplace of the Victorian wine industry. It ceased production in the fortified wine boom in the 1920s and planting began again in earnest in the 1960s with modern pioneers such as Dr Bailey Carrodus, Guill de Pury and Dr John Middleton paving the way for the Yarra Valley to become one of Australia’s premier wine growing regions today. Their Yarra Yering, Yeringberg and Mount Mary wineries remain regional heroes, firm favorites such as Coldstream Hills and new star wineries such as Oakridge and Giant Steps excel with stunning examples of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling are also no slouch in the region and the exciting new breed of wineries such as Bobar, Mac Forbes, Hoddles Creek, Salo, Timo Mayer, Thousand Candles and Proud Primary Produce are proof of the Yarra Valley’s diversity and understanding of place. Local Knowledge: The restaurant at Oakridge Wines is one of the finest regional dining experiences in the land…. Have a glass of 864 Chardonnay while you are there.
